Senegal Orders 3 Offshore Patrol Vessels from French Shipyard Piriou
The Ministry of Armed Forces of Senegal and French shipbuilder PIRIOU signed November 17 a procurement contract for three OPV 58 S for the Navy of Senegal. The vessels will be fitted with missile systems, a first for this African navy.
Length: 62.20 meters
Width: 9.50 meters
Draft: 2.90 meters
Speed: 21 knots
Range / Endurance: 25 days, 4,500 nautical miles @ 12 knots
Hull / Structure: Steel / Aluminum
Accommodations: 48 (24 crew + 24 mission personnel)
Stern ramp for two RHIBs
Based on the images, the OPV 58 S will be fitted with missile systems, a first for both the Senegalese Navy and the Piriou shipyard. The weapons suite of the OPV 58 S appears to consist of:
A 76mm main gun by Leonardo
4x anti-ship missiles placed forward (likely Marte by MBDA)
2x 12.7mm manned manchine guns on the bridge wings
2x 20mm remote weapon stations (Narwhal by Nexter) at the back of the bridge
A SIMBAD-RC surface to air system by MBDA (maybe in its SPIMM containerized variant).Edit: Contacted by Naval News, MBDA confirmed that the missiles systems are SIMBAD-RC (not SPIMM) and Marte MK2/N. Naval Group will supply the combat management system (POLARIS).

KONGSBERG awarded follow-on JSM contract with Japan
Kongsberg Defence & Aerospace has entered into a follow-on contract with Japan to supply the JSM (Joint Strike Missile) for their fleet of F-35 fighter aircraft. The contract is valued 450 MNOK.
This latest announcement follows an initial contract signed earlier this year between Kongsberg and Japan to supply the initial deliveries of JSM.
The JSM is a 5th generation stealth air-to surface missile that can be carried internally in the F-35 thus ensuring the aircraft’s low-signature capabilities. The JSM has superior performance against well-defended sea- and land targets across long distances.

Trop beau pour etre vrai à ce prix...
MMSC for Hellenic Navy: No, the cost is not € 2 billion, it is double the amountQuoteSince the first announcement of the US position through the so-called P&A (Price and Availability) which reportedly was priced at 2 billion euros for four vessels and follow on support (FOS), we had expressed serious reservations. In keeping with our public information ethics, the issue has been further explored in terms of the cost of those ships as we reiterate that in every respect, the price of 2 billion euros for the vessels, their weapons and their FOS is insanely low.
Au même tarif qu'une FDI (plus ou moins), tout de suite le MMSC est moins intéressant...
